Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Science Teacher
Amity School District is seeking qualified applicants for a Science teacher that can demonstrate the qualities expected in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional responsibilities, professional relationships, and school community.
The teacher will be responsible for communicating knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner. He or she will use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. Teachers will administer different forms of student assessments, communicate with parents and other team members about student progress, and plan for further instruction. They will be reflective about their own practice and act as a coach for their team members when necessary. Teachers will work to integrate technology into their teaching and professional activities.
This is a full-time position beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Amity School District operates on a 4-day school week, which has provided staff with many professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
The applicant must:
1. Hold a valid Oregon Teaching License with proper endorsement.
2. Have the ability to provide materials and lessons consistent with student grade levels, individual needs
and the District Curriculum Guide.
3. Have the ability to establish criteria both in skills and knowledge acquisition for awarding grades.
4. Have the ability to clearly communicate consistent classroom rules, and manage a reward and
consequence system that motivates students to excel in their class.
5. Have the ability to consistently enforce classroom expectations and hold parent conferences on
discipline when necessary.
6. Have strong oral and written communication skills, including proper word usage, punctuation and
correct spelling.
7. Possess strong skills in the use of current educational technology and a high aptitude for mastering
new technology applications. This includes computers and software, interactive monitors and
document cameras.
8. Possess a strong knowledge of CCSS and Smarter Balanced Assessment.
*Fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Placement on the Amity School District Teaching Salary Schedule.
