2025 Optimizing Student Support: Effective Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Intervention Planning (BIP)
Webinar Overview: This interactive series provides participants with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to conduct effective Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and create Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) tailored to individual student needs. Throughout the sessions, participants will explore legal requirements, best practices, and strategies for using data to inform decision-making, with a focus on leveraging existing school resources and multi-tiered supports to improve student outcomes. Each module builds on the previous one, providing a comprehensive framework for supporting student behavior through evidence-based practices. All sessions will be recorded.
- Module 1: Understanding Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA)
- This introductory module provides participants with a thorough understanding of the FBA process, emphasizing its legal framework and best practices for collaborative teaming. Participants will learn how to identify the functions of student behavior through assessment and apply these insights toward developing targeted interventions. The session will feature case studies and practical examples, helping participants see how FBA leads to more effective Behavior Intervention Planning (BIP) in school settings.

- Module 2: Developing Effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- In this module, participants will learn how to develop efficient, data-driven Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) based on FBA results. The session will focus on integrating BIPs into existing tiered behavior supports, ensuring that interventions are feasible within the school’s framework. Participants will engage in interactive discussions on how to align BIPs with individual student needs while leveraging school resources for sustainable implementation.

- Module 3: Implementation, Monitoring, and Revision of BIPs
- This final module focuses on the implementation and ongoing management of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Participants will learn how to monitor progress effectively, ensure staff collaboration, and make data-based decisions to revise BIPs as needed. The session will highlight best practices for documenting the process and using school-based resources to support the implementation of BIPs. By the end of the module, participants will have a clear framework for maintaining effective behavior interventions that can be adjusted over time to meet changing student needs.
