Shifts in literacy instruction impact all educators regardless of content area. Beginning with a clear understanding of the body of evidence-based research on how students learn to read will provide educators with the necessary foundation from which to create a culturally responsive classroom conducive to growing ALL readers. Participants will discover the science behind learning to read and the art behind reading to learn.

Presenter:

Dr. Lynne Kulich, Senior Director Solutions Engineer, Renaissance - Dr. Kulich has over 30 years of experience in education working directly with students, families, educators, and researchers. Her studies include early literacy and multilingual learners. She is a former professor, curriculum and instruction director, data coach, and classroom teacher. She earned a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction and a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Akron, and a bachelor’s degree in foreign language education from The Ohio State University. Dr. Kulich is an author, researcher, consultant, and presenter at international and national education conferences, and the lead author of “The Fluency Development Lesson: Closing the Reading Gap,” which is a number one new release on Amazon. Before joining Renaissance Learning, she worked with the Georgia Department of Education FLES Program and the Ohio Principal Mentoring Program, and she is a member of the Ohio Literacy Association Transition Board.
