POSITION SUMMARY:
The Principal is the instructional leader of their school, responsible for establishing an
instructional vision and a focused plan for improving student achievement; monitoring and
supervising instruction; supporting teachers in improving their instructional practice; creating a
community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high
expectations for all students. In addition, the principal is charged with building strong
partnerships with families and community, creating a safe, supportive school climate, and
effectively managing operational, technical and staff issues to promote instructional progress.

The Principal is also a member of the Jefferson County School District’s administrative team. The
Principal works collaboratively with the district office leadership team to advance the school
district’s educational vision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
*Oregon Administrative License issued by TSPC or ability to obtain prior to start.
*At least five (5) years of classroom teaching experience.
*Successful teaching, leadership and/or administrative K-12 experience (Elementary school
experience preferred)
*Strong knowledge of current district curriculum
*Experience with the implementation of literacy and math strategies
*Thorough knowledge and understanding of SEL Understanding and knowledge of CPS (Collaborative Problem Solving)
*Successful experience as an administrator raising student achievement
*Understanding of Oregon and Common Core standards and assessment and the ability to use data to lead school improvement efforts
*Effective management of school operations that support teaching and learning
*Demonstrated proficiency with technology
*Proven communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents and the community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bilingual in Spanish/English
*Successful experience with professional learning communication systems and processes
*Strong knowledge of district curriculum
*Work experience in a culturally diverse setting

COMPENSATION:
*$123,061.68-$130,521.31
*225-day contract
*Family medical, dental and vision insurance

*Professional development and tuition reimbursement
*JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
