TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is 215 day contract beginning August 5, 2024.
SALARY: Successful candidate will be placed on the administrative salary schedule dependent upon experience. Range for 2024-2025 is $103,449 - $119,926.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The person selected will actively assist the principal with the supervision and evaluation of the instructional and support staff, planning and development of the instructional program, maintain effective student discipline, supervision and evaluation of the athletic programs, activities programs; develop, monitor and expand CTE programs and community partnerships (businesses, universities, etc.).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assistant Principal
1. Assist in the evaluation, improvement, and implementation of the curriculum.
a. Assist in the development and implementation of the instructional program and student learning outcomes.
2. Supervise and evaluate personnel assigned by the Principal.
a. Supervise assigned certified and classified staff members.
b. Evaluate assigned certified and classified staff members.
c. Assist teachers in improving their instructional skills.
d. Recommend staffing changes such as promotions, transfers, terminations, additions, and reductions.
3. Orient newly assigned staff members to policy and procedures.
4. Develop and maintain authentic partnerships with business and community members.
5. Maintain and expand on relationships with partner programs at our local colleges and universities.
6. Assist in the preparation of published materials related to the school's operation.
7. Assist with maintaining a program of effective student discipline.
Athletic Director
1. Assists in the evaluation, improvement, and development of the athletic and activities programs.
2. Plans, organizes, and directs the implementation of all interscholastic activities, and scheduling of all interscholastic sports events and student activities. This includes transportation for athletic contest participants, making arrangements for non-school use of playing field and facilities, and arranging field and gym practice schedules.
3. Prepares and submits the athletic and activities budget and monitors the expenditure of funds.
4. Provides for adequate inventories of equipment and supplies necessary for the safe operation of the athletic program and for the security and accountability of that property.
5. Accountable for assessing and determining the eligibility of participants.
6. Maintains high standards of student conduct in all athletics, activities, and disciplines, when necessary, in accordance with the guidelines for student behavior and eligibility.
7. Supervises all ticket sales and fundraising events connected with the athletic/activity programs and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.
8. Arranges all details for visiting teams.
9. Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to the beginning of each season.
10. Keeps records of the results of all athletic contests.
11. Completes certification and eligibility forms for the Oregon School Activities Association to ensure the legal participation of students.
12. Acts as an intermediary, when necessary, between individuals or groups of athletes/activity coaches/advisors.
13. Clearly publicizes and enforces eligibility and training rules.
14. Is willing to support the District's policies, regulations, and philosophies.
15. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
16. Hires and counsels coaches, supervisors, and other staff regarding their individual and group performance as it relates to the goals of the school program. Includes orienting coaches as to their specific responsibilities and recommendations for their professional duties.
17. In conjunction with head coaches, plans recognition program for school athletes.
18. Conducts necessary coaches/activity advisor meetings to keep the staff members informed.
19. Counsels head coaches as to various instructional techniques and training rules that might be needed for the improvement of the sports program.
20. Helps with head coaches and advisors in conducting recognition programs to honor participation of students, parents, and coaches.
21. Hires officials and security officers as required and assumes general responsibility for proper supervision of home events.
22. Fosters good school community relationships by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic and activities programs.
23. Maintains a liaison with the sports Boosters Club to assist with programs designed by the club to support the District sports program.
24. Attends the AD Conference meetings and represents the best interest of the Phoenix-Talent sports program in scheduling and other matters of conference business.
Leadership Team
1. Assist in recruiting, screening, selecting and assigning staff.
2. Participate in District, departmental, administrative and other meetings as assigned.
3. Work with District Office staff to resolve school, district and other problems as assigned.
4. Keep the principal informed of school problems.
5. Assume responsibility for his/her professional growth and development.
Other
Available to meet with students to explain curriculum, scheduling, discipline and other requirements.
Offers counseling and encouragement to students to participate in athletics, activities and CTE programming.
Assist in maintaining effective communication between school, parents and patrons.
This position may incur occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials including, but not limited to, body fluids such as semen, vaginal secretions, nasal drainage, vomit, saliva, feces and pus.
Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Appropriate State of Oregon License or ability to acquire
Prior experience strongly preferred in school administration (assistant principal or dean of students)
Prior experience strongly preferred in athletic administration
Prior experience preferred with career technical exploration and/or college promotion
Minimum of two years successful public school teaching experience
Physical demands needed: ability to communicate with students, co-workers, and the public; ability to communicate over the telephone; ability to respond to telephone, bells, students, co workers, etc.; ability to respond to workplace disturbances, visual cues, requests, etc.; ability to read written materials; ability to operate office equipment; ability to occasionally lift and carry weights up to 80 lbs.; ability to climb a ladder; ability to drive school vehicles.
