Nichole Watson
Nichole Watson is the proud principal of Prescott Elementary School in the Parkrose School District. Born and raised in Oregon, Nichole graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Science and a Master’s degree in Education from Portland State University. And to deepen her practice and understanding of education, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Lewis & Clark College.
Nichole’s research analyzes school climate and culture by investigating how these concepts are understood and their application in P-12 settings. She is passionate about public education and seeks to explore the optimal learning conditions for historically underserved students by examining climate and culture through an Ecological Critical lens.
Nichole is deeply passionate and concerned about the state of education in Oregon; and our posture towards closing the very real gaps that persist. Her goal is to not only impact student learners within the context of community and classroom; but also, to empower future and current educators to do the deeply personal racial work that is critical to building authentic relationships and finding success within the classroom and communities they serve.
It is her belief that it is our duty and obligation to fully equip and prepare our future leaders. For our children to become the leaders that we have been waiting for, they must have radical advocates who see their gifts and amplify their brilliance.
Nichole believes in the village model and desperately hopes to revive its tenets by unifying the voice of the people and amplifying issues that are important to those who cannot speak for themselves.
