A Fresh Look @ the Science of Reading and Supporting all Students
In this session, educators will spend time focused on the research that supports how students learn to read, tailored to what the science tells educators about supporting all students. Grounded in the belief that students have the ability to learn to read, and the right to high-quality instruction, this learning opportunity will highlight the importance of:
- Creating literacy environments dedicated to rich, complex text and literacy opportunities.
- Realizing the intense power and opportunity for instruction to identify syntactical nuances within text
- Explicit instruction to ensure mastery in each of the components of literacy: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
Speaker:
- Jen Jump, Senior Academic Officer, Teacher Created Materials
