REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold, or be able to obtain, Oregon Administrative Licensure
Record of increasingly responsible positions in education
Successful teaching and administrative experience at the middle school level
Humble, collaborative leader who values relationships with students, families and staff members
Strong communication skills, with a special focus on being an exceptional listener, that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents/guardians
Effective management of school operations, financials, bell schedules, and systems that support teaching and learning
Values a student-centered approach to leading, teaching and learning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional experience with leading and building cultural inclusivity with an eclectic group of students; including, but not limited to, socio-economics, ability level, TAG, Life Skills, multi-lingual, identity and gender preference
Instructional leader who understands best practices and utilizes data
Supportive, with a commitment to build on the work that has been implemented in the school design plan
Understands and has experience in non-exclusionary practices for student behavior
Visionary leader who possesses experience with standards-based grading, student directed conferences, evaluations and project-based work, or demonstrates a willingness to learn
Record of advocacy supporting the needs of a unique school, including academic, staffing and facility related needs
Supportive relationships with staff that provides strong professional support
Creative, out-of-the box thinker who views challenges as opportunities and willing to advocate for staff and students
Clear communicator with an open-door policy

ABOUT CASCADE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Cascade Middle School is home to just over 600 diverse learners who are engaged in a rigorous curriculum with a broad range of elective opportunities. There are strong supports for students with a wide range of learning abilities as Cascade is the only middle school to house a Life Skills and TAG program. Cascade Middle School students take a diverse mix of eight subjects during their three years at Cascade (including core coursework, world languages, design, arts and physical education/health) and are evaluated through Standards-Based Grading (SBG). Students are provided with useful, standard-specific feedback, to help accurately reflect their progress through specific standards. A balanced and growing mix of extra-curricular activities are also offered, consisting of a variety of clubs and athletics.
Cascade Middle School educators want students to continuously learn and grow and utilize SBG to document and direct student’s journey in becoming lifelong learners. Cascade Middle School students celebrate diversity while working with others to creatively solve problems. Staff members care deeply about students and fellow colleagues, striving to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
DISTRICT HIGHLIGHTS
Bend-La Pine Schools is the fifth largest school district in the state. More than 17,500 students attend Bend-La Pine Schools and programs.
Bend-La Pine Schools boasts 35 schools: 17 elementary schools, two K-8 schools, two charter schools, seven middle schools and seven high schools.
Since 2000, students in Bend-La Pine Schools have continually scored higher on SAT tests than their peers nation- and statewide. Students taking the SAT earned an average score of 1598, 101 points higher than their peers nationwide in 2014.
Highly competitive extracurricular teams earned numerous state championships.
Staff award winners include Oregon’s Superintendent of the Year, Elementary Principal of the Year, High School Principal of the Year, Oregon Teacher of the year, and Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.
The community has passed five school construction bonds in the past 20 years, providing 17 new schools and supporting facility safety and equity, along with new instructional programs for students.
Strong collaboration and networking with the community exist through School to Careers program, Safe Schools Alliance, Family Access Network with a FAN advocate in each building, and partnerships with local Parks and Recreation districts, to name a few.
A private education foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools supports K-12 education in the community.
Volunteers provide over 95,000 hours to schools annually.
