Meadow Park Middle School’s Grant Piros Named Assistant Principal of the Year

Salem, Oregon- November 19, 2024- The Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) and the Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) proudly announce that Grant Piros, Assistant Principal of Meadow Park Middle School in Beaverton, Oregon, has been selected as the 2025 Assistant Principal of the Year. This award, recognizing exceptional leadership and commitment to educational excellence, was presented to Piros as a surprise during a school assembly on Thursday. He will also be formally honored at the annual Seaside Conference in June 2025.

Since joining Meadow Park Middle School, Grant Piros has been a driving force in elevating student achievement and fostering an inclusive learning environment. His work this academic year, aimed at aligning instructional practices and developing assessments to support high standards, exemplifies his commitment to closing achievement gaps and supporting marginalized students. Known for his collaborative leadership, Piros has earned the respect and trust of his colleagues by leading reflective discussions and promoting data-driven instructional decisions.

“I have never met anyone who embraces a deep sense of humility, community-centered mindset, and commitment to challenging systemic inequities,” shared Principal Johanna Castillo in her nomination of Piros. “He not only embodies the qualities this award represents but far exceeds those expectations.”

Piros’s dedication to equity is evident in every interaction, from staff meetings to classroom visits. He continuously challenges staff to improve practices that benefit students, particularly by addressing biases and promoting rigorous instruction for all students. His background in a community-centered environment instilled in him the values of humility and resilience, which he brings into his work, inspiring students and staff alike to achieve their fullest potential.

"This is a reflection of all of you and the work Meadow Park does,” Piros told a gym full of Meadow Park Middle School students, overflowing with excitement and pride for their Assistant Principal. “At the end of the day, this is the result of the hard work of the staff and students and I’m proud and excited to be part of this school community.”

Beyond his professional achievements, Grant Piros is supported by his wife, Annika, and their son, Arno. Together, they form a strong, community-centered family that shares his commitment to positive change. Piros was supported at the assembly by his wife, son, sister and parents.
