Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) Early Childhood Services (ECS), a widely recognized early childhood special education program committed to inclusion, family partnership, and developmentally appropriate practices, invites applications for an ECSE Behavior Consultant at the Gilbert Creek Child Development Center in Grants Pass.
 
ECS has been designated a 5 star program through Spark, Oregon's quality rating and improvement system.  Our transdisciplinary team of 25 dedicated teachers, assistants, family consultants, therapists, evaluators, and office professionals are focused on authentic and supportive relationships, professional growth through coaching and mentoring, and maintaining a “family feel” to our work place. We are intentional in our implementation of a tiered approach for developing children's early language, literacy, and social emotional skills, and have designed a variety of environments and experiences to address the unique and varied learning needs of the children we serve.

POSITION GOAL:
The Behavior Consultant serves children with developmental and/or social emotional delays and provides direct and consultative services to families and to staff of SOESD programs and community based preschool and childcare settings.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY/SUPERVISION:
The Behavior Consultant works with teaching assistants, preschool teachers, therapists, and other specialists within and outside the program to support the social emotional competence of infants/toddlers/preschoolers with developmental delays or behavior challenges in a variety of settings. The Behavior Consultant provides training and technical assistance through a variety of methods including group instruction, classroom based coaching and individual or team consultation. May also perform Service Coordinator/EI Specialist responsibilities for a selected group of children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Conduct child assessment intervention, and behavior support planning using a variety of methods, (observation, interview, CBA and standardized assessment) within a transdisciplinary model.
2. Conduct classroom or program based observations/assessments in order to evaluate effectiveness, provide consultation or coaching, and measure impact of interventions
3. Provide coaching, consultation and training to families and staff with emphasis on understanding the developmental needs of young children, implementing PBIS, and supporting the development of healthy social emotional relationships.
4. Participate as IFSP team facilitator or member, developing measurable, functional IFSP goals programs for remediating delays and systems for recording progress, and support others in implementation.
5. Coordinate services for assigned children by communicating regularly with other team members and community agencies, facilitating meetings, arranging for needed supports, and documenting activities.
6. Prepare written reports, progress updates, and other documentation, in a timely and accurate manner, as required by departmental policy and State law.
7. Comply with EI/ECSE and ESD rules and policies.
8. Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM PREREQUISITES:
1. Master's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
2. A minimum of two years experience working with infants/toddlers/preschoolers with social emotional needs and their families.
3. Must meet professional competencies required by the Department of Education and hold TSPC licensure or ODE authorization or obtain authorization within one year of hire.
4. Possess general knowledge of assessments, program development and implementation, and positive behavioral supports and interventions (PBIS)
5. Possess specialized training and/or experience in behavior consultation or mental health consultation, Ability to work independently.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, and to establish effective working relationships with children and their families, as well as with staff, health care professionals, and community agencies.
7. Experience providing training to staff or parents in small group settings and through individual coaching.
8. Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and other documents required by policy or regulation.
9. Willingness to travel and to be based at various sites.
10. Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
11. Must obtain First Aid certification within sixty (60) days of employment.
12. Pass a background check and maintain enrollment in the Child Care Division Criminal History registry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated experience using Power Point, Excel and word processing software.
2. Experience providing training and coaching using the Pyramid Model
3. Knowledge of attachment theory and experience supporting relationship development

LENGTH OF POSITION: 220 days extended school year / 1.0 FTE
SALARY RANGE: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement $62,844 - $98,865 for the 2024-2025 school year.
