Wilson Center Assistant Principal

The Assistant Principal of the Wilson Center at Tillamook High School will be responsible for leading and managing a specialized educational program designed to meet the diverse needs of students requiring an alternative learning environment. This position requires a dynamic and student-focused leader who will ensure academic programs align with state standards while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the main high school administration, teachers, staff, and community stakeholders to develop and implement innovative programs that support student success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
● Must hold or be eligible to hold a TSPC Oregon Administrators License.
● Minimum of 5 years of teaching or administrative experience.
● Strong understanding of alternative education models, credit recovery, and student-centered instructional strategies.
● Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
● Strong ability to facilitate group processes.
● Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the broader school community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience working with at-risk youth and implementing social-emotional learning programs.
● Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative discipline approaches.
● Background in program development and implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Academic Leadership: Ensure curriculum and instructional strategies align with state standards and district policies to support student achievement and graduation requirements.
● Program Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve an alternative education program that meets a variety of student needs, including credit recovery, personalized learning plans, and social-emotional support.
● Collaboration: Work closely with the main high school administrative team, counselors, and faculty to align student pathways, share resources, and foster a cohesive school culture.
● Student Support & Discipline: Promote a positive school climate by implementing restorative discipline practices, addressing behavioral issues, and providing interventions tailored to individual student needs in alignment with the Tillamook High School student handbook. Provide student supervision during extracurricular events, may include some evenings and weekends.
● Data-Driven Decision Making: Monitor student performance, attendance, and engagement data to drive program improvements and individual interventions.
● Staff Supervision & Development: Support, evaluate, and mentor program teachers and staff to ensure effective instructional practices and student-centered learning approaches.
● Community & Family Engagement: Establish partnerships with parents, local organizations, and businesses to enhance student learning opportunities and career readiness.
● Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations, including documentation of student progress and program effectiveness.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
● Estimated start date: August 1, 2025
● 1.0 FTE – 220-day contract
● Salary and benefits as outlined in the Agreement between Tillamook School District 9 and Administrators.
● District-paid employee contribution to PERS (Public Employees Retirement System)
