The Elementary School Principal is the chief administrative and instructional leader at an
elementary school, and operates with broad autonomy under the direction of the Executive
Administrator and in alignment with District policies, labor agreements, state regulations, and
federal statutes. Independent judgment and decision-making is required in matters not having
established rules, regulations or policies. The Principal has ultimate accountability for the
operation of the school, and in this regard has a demonstrable impact on the achievement and
success of its students.
