POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction from the superintendent and in cooperation with other district administrators, has the primary authority and responsibility for the overall operation and maintenance of a local assigned school. Serves as the chief administrator of an assigned school unit of the school district. Has the delegated authority and responsibility for the specific details of the school’s operation. Considerable use of independent judgment and decision making is required in matters not having established rules, regulations, or politics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assigns, directs, and supervises building staff.
2. Assists in the recruitment, interview, and recommendation for the employment of staff.
3. Evaluates and recommends retention, promotion, transfer, and termination of staff.
4. In concert with other district administrators, plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates a program of curriculum and instruction.
5. Assists with the creation and development of short and long term educational goals, objectives and competencies.
6. Develops and maintains a systematic procedure for the expenditure and accounting of school related funds.
7. Participates in the development of the district’s annual budget.
8. Establishes and maintains an accurate inventory of school supplies and equipment.
9. Assists in the preparation of student, faculty, and parent handbooks to accurately define the school program and its laws, rules and policies.
10. Establishes and maintains a program of staff, student, and parent communication to assure effective transmittal of accurate and appropriate information relevant to the educational programs.
11. Participate in in-service and professional development activities.
12. Assist in the assessment of building-level needs and planning required to meet those needs.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Serves as a liaison among the district staff, students, and patrons.
2. In cooperation with the maintenance supervisor, plans, organizes, and implements a program of facilities and grounds maintenance.
3. Serves on committees and fulfills other administrative assignments as assumed or delegated by the superintendent.

MINIMMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher
• Criminal history clearance
• Valid Oregon Administrative License or ability to obtain same.
• Evaluation Techniques
• CCSS and Testing competency

KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Current methods and procedures for management.
2. Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding school management.
3. Educational curriculum concepts and instructional techniques.
4. Learning theory and human psychology.
5. Evaluation and appraisal techniques.
6. Management team concepts.
7. Communication techniques.

ABILITY TO:
1. Provide leadership.
2. Establish and maintain management records and accounts.
3. Communicate effectively.
4. Work independently and make decisions in matters not having precedence or established procedures.
5. Work effectively as part of a management team.
6. Experience - demonstrated competency
7. Experience in education during which management related kills have been required through assigned or assumed duties.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Evenings and/or extended work hours are sometimes required (e.g. field trips, Open House night, concerts).
2. Required to obtain a First Aid and/or CPR Card and serve as a Designated First Aid Provider.
3. Occasionally perform other duties as required by principal.
