RPA is currently recruiting established or emerging organizational leaders with experience in education or a deep interest in education to serve as either our High School Director or Middle School Director. While applicants are not required to hold an administrative degree or license, the ability to qualify for an Oregon Charter School Registration as an Administrator is required.
RPA routinely graduates over 95% of its students and features award-winning programs in theatre, music, art, and robotics. Students at our middle school and our high school are empowered to own their education and to seek a deep connection with their passions. As a School Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of RPA’s vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities. You will manage and supervise staff and students, and you will ensure the continual development of a school culture focused on Respect, Engagement, and Growth.
Salary Range: $102,000 to $116,000 (Depending on experience & qualifications)
Work Calendar: 212 days (August 4, 2025 to June 26, 2026)

Job Title: High School or Middle School Director
Reports To: Senior Director of Schools
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt 212 days
Position Summary
RPA is seeking a High School Director and a Middle School Director. The RPA High School Director oversees the daily operations of the high school, serving approximately 600 students, and the RPA Middle School Director oversees the daily operations of the middle school, serving approximately 300 students. Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Schools, the School Directors provide leadership and supervision for staff and students. The School Directors ensure the implementation of RPA’s vision, mission, and strategy for their school. The School Directors foster and maintain a school-wide culture of Respect, Engagement, and Growth. The School Directors will work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families. The School Directors ensure that the school remains a safe and productive learning environment that addresses the learning needs of students through the thoughtful implementation of innovative strategies and practices.
Key Responsibilities
School Culture
Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and student-centered environment where learners are engaged and growing.
Establish a culture of learning through implementing RPA’s comprehensive systems that address student support and intervention.
Keep the school community informed of school happenings and events.
Cultivate a school climate and culture of high expectations where all students can thrive.
Foster communication and collaboration among staff, parents, and students to support school goals; encourage participation from all stakeholders in school programs and activities.
Plan and execute school-wide events that help build RPA culture.
Serve as a building administrator for after-school events.
Participate in open enrollment and attend school events as necessary.
Student Support
Oversee the implementation of the RPA assessment plan.
Oversee the implementation of RPA intervention, acceleration, and enrichment plans to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Manage student disciplinary actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Ensure effective supervision of the high school student body at all times, and assign staff to implement active supervision of students.
Handle student discipline issues per the RPA student code of conduct and handbook.
Ensure that every student grows academically and that RPA meets ambitious student outcome goals.
Staff Support
Equip educators to identify and address student needs, minimizing achievement gaps.
Dedicate time and resources to nurturing a professional environment steeped in collaboration and commitment to our shared vision, mission, and core values, fostering mutual accountability and growth.
Navigate change effectively by providing support, encouragement, and transparent communication.
Address employee concerns and complaints promptly and fairly.
Facilitate resolution of any problems that arise between teachers, students, and parents.
Organizational Functions
Monitor progress toward key instructional priorities and implement provided action plans, in collaboration with Senior Directors.
Work collaboratively with the Academic Team to monitor the implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in a manner consistent with RPA’s mission, vision, and core values.
Interact with RPA’s Leadership Team and Senior Directors to ensure consistency and connection between department and school campuses.
Maintain positive and professional relationships with all employees.
Represent RPA and communicate its vision and programs to the school community and to the community at large.
Implement innovative strategies and practices.
Key Authorities
Operational Oversight
Create and manage school operational safety and security plan, in coordination with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring that all aspects run smoothly.
Financial Authority
Manage school instructional and staff expense budgets within parameters established by the Senior Directors. This includes making purchasing decisions and monitoring expenditures to ensure that resources are allocated effectively to support educational goals.
Supervisory Authority
Supervise approximately 20 staff members, including the Dean of Students, middle school student support staff, middle school office staff, and middle school instructional staff.
Supervise and manage approximately 300 students throughout the school day in order to maintain a safe learning environment.

Degrees/Licensure
Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in education or education-related field preferred.
