Brief Description of Position

Grants Pass School District No. 7 is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Grants Pass High School Athletic Director. This position manages the athletic programs, including scheduling, budgeting, and hiring coaches. The position also ensures that the program complies with local and state regulations, the facilitation of physical and academic eligibility, and works to meet the School District Mission and Vision.

Credential: Current Oregon Administrative Certificate

(Estimated) 2025-2026 Salary Range: $113,363-$133,990

• Knowledge of school safety & security procedures
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of OSAA rules and regulations
• Leadership and supervisory skills
• Independent judgment and decision-making skills
• Computer skills
• Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Serves as part of the administrative team at GPHS, including performing teacher evaluation, supervision of custodial and other school staff.
• Supervises and works with the Athletic Department Office Manager, Activities Coordinator, and event staff to provide coverage for all athletic events
• Works with school administration and coaches to ensures all our athletic programs and student body exhibit outstanding sportsmanship
• Coordinates required training for coaches and student-athletes and responsible for ensuring safety procedures are followed.
• Assists coaches with coordinating game schedules and athletic events.
• Coordinates and maintains school-level direct student-athlete recruitment process for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
• Coordinates the certification of school-level student-athletes for GPHS and OSAA. – Eligibility and Compliance.
• Coordinates security for games, including working with the school SRO to secure law enforcement officers as needed
• Monitors attendance and academic progress of all athletes
• Works with community members and Booster Club to meet the needs of athletic and activity programs.
• Works with staff to organize and manages ticket sales, scorekeepers, officials, and other personnel needed during sporting events and assures facility preparation for athletic events.
• Coordinates the recruiting, hiring, and annual evaluation of all coaches.
• Maintains a current athletic handbook listing detailed policies, procedures, and practices for both students and employees.
• Attends state and regional meetings whenever possible
• Communicates all pertinent information in a timely fashion to the school Principal and other administrators.
• Performs other duties as assigned as a high school administrator
• Oversees management of athletic department and club account budgets
• Serves on the District Facility Committee
• Works with the middle school athletic programs to coordinate successful feeder programs
• Oversees and manages athletic department and club account budgets.
