JOB SUMMARY
The Technology Technician II provides individual and network support for various computer and other electronic device hardware and software applications within the district. Position assists staff members with initial computer and/or device set-up, available programs and applications and permitted uses of district hardware, software and electronic network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following tasks. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.
Configures computer-related hardware and other district electronic devices for various uses (e.g., mobile labs, stand alones, LAN/WAN equipment). Identifies and resolves network integration problems.
Installs and configures system, network and application software for computers and other district electronic devices. Resolves software conflicts.
Diagnoses LAN/WAN security, performance, connectivity, and related network problems in a multi-location IP network and timely resolves technical problems.
Timely diagnoses and resolves basic computer-related hardware and electronic device problems.
Reviews and maintains software licensing agreements and monitors compliance. Installs new software releases and system upgrades. Maintains best practices and procedures for patch management, virus management and operating system upgrades.
Performs computer and computer-related equipment moves, additions and other changes. Adds, deletes and maintains users’ passwords and access levels.
Assists staff with learning to use hardware and software for assigned computers and other electronic devices including permitted network access and use.
Proactively evaluates user support issues and identifies areas requiring training.
Assists in the deployment of various IT-related projects.
Assists with setup and maintenance of district telephone equipment.
Perform computer and computer-related equipment moves, adds, and changes.
Diagnose and resolve basic computer-related hardware problems.

Resolve software conflicts.

Perform routine network tasks (i.e., backups, reconfigurations and software upgrades).
Understand and resolve network integration problems.
Add, delete, and maintain users’ passwords and access levels.
Assist staff in learning to use applications, including appropriate network use.
Assist in the deployment of various IT-related projects.
Assist with setup and maintenance of telephone equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all district policies and procedures.
Consistent, daily and punctual attendance.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Non-essential duties of this position include the following tasks. Employees in this position perform some or all of these tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.
Operates and troubleshoots various office equipment including telephones and photocopy machines.
Develops and maintains training materials.
Makes recommendations for equipment replacement and additional equipment, as needed.
Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
Reports issues to the supervisor and the appropriate authorities including safety, sanitary and fire hazards, vandalism, thefts and errant wildlife.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Consistently follows all applicable federal and state laws and all district policies, rules and supervisor directions.
Observes ergonomics of sedentary office work including placement of computers and monitors, and sitting alignment.
Observes proper lifting techniques and other strategies to avoid accidents and personal injury while performing job duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: An Associate Degree in computer science or two years of college/university study in computer science or a related field is required. At least three years of experience working with electronic information systems including communications (connections that link systems including voice, data, image and video), software applications and operations and hardware selection, installation and maintenance. Demonstrated knowledge of ethernet LAN/WAN architecture and support and repair experience are required. Demonstrated knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems and support are required. Demonstrated knowledge of Apple iOS devices and support are required. Experience managing Apple iOS devices in a business or other setting is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate English fluently both verbally and in writing, including proficiency in spelling and grammar. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, regulatory agencies, vendors and members of the community. Ability to read and interpret documents including governmental regulations, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions/ instruction manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence with high degrees of accuracy and professionalism.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, proportions and area, including circumference and volume. Ability to read and interpret various charts, bar graphs and similar visual data depictions.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, schedule or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving more than one variable.
Computer Skills: Ability to effectively use office computers and internet access for email, research, word processing, database manipulation, visual presentations and general web-based applications. Additional required skills are listed in the Education and/or Experience section.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to exercise good judgment and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Oregon Drivers’ License is required. Must have or be able to obtain various certificates, licenses and/or registrations as required by federal, state or local law(s) and/or determined by the district.

The work environment is public school offices, classrooms and related structures. The noise level of the work environment is usually low to moderate but occasionally high depending upon the location, the student population and current activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions, including seasonal heat and cold. The employee may occasionally be exposed to contagious diseases, bodily fluids and blood-borne pathogens.
The employee may be exposed to moving parts of nearby machinery, a variety of cleaning agents, some hazardous chemicals and fumes, risk of electrical shock and mechanical vibration.
