SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST – Special Education & Evaluation Services
Classification: Licensed 190 day calendar
Reports to: Special Education & Evaluation Services Program Director
FSLA Status: Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW
One of the earliest forms of learning for a child is language. This position offers
both an roles of an evaluator and practitioner of language skills and how that
impacts overall access to learning. As a part of our team of extraordinary
educators, you will have the joy of witnessing the development of a student’s
ability to connect with their world. This interesting and dynamic position offers
opportunities to work closely with a team of evaluators to assess a student
holistically, to learn from each other and you grow in your own skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Master’s degree or higher.
2. One of the following:
Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of
Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
OR – If licensed before 2015;
Oregon Teaching License with Special Education: Communication Disorders
endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association, Certificate of Clinical
Competency in Speech Language Pathology, or actively pursuing this Certificate.
3. Demonstrated successful experience in special education, including work with
high needs populations.
4. Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate
by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
3. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our
agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA.
4. Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments,
ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation,
communication and active participation.
6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written
communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining
professional dress standards.
7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data
and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending
meetings, and following schedules.
9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district
staff as directed.
10. Ability to sit in child-sized chairs for extended periods of time and/or sit on the
floor for extended periods of time.
11. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
12. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills
and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify
this list at any time it’s deemed necessary.
1. Provide or direct the provision of speech and/or language therapy and services to
identified students with communication disorders.
2. Assist education staff in observing and referring students with suspected
communication disorders.
3. Provide individual evaluations in speech and language, as well as other areas
that may be assigned, to identify students with communication disorders.
4. Provide comprehensive written report of observations, assessment results, and
recommendations within the standards established by the Education Evaluation and
Consultation Center.
5. Participate as a specialist of communication disorders in determining eligibility.
6. Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs for identified students on
caseload.
7. Participate in developing integrated goals with other education staff for students with
multiple or other disabilities.
8. Serve as a resource and consultant to provide specialized suggestions and/or materials
for use by regular classroom staff or parents in the delivery of speech/language services
or generalizations of previously acquired skills.
9. Compile and maintain required service records and documentations for assigned students
on caseload.
10. Assist district in compliance with federal and state special education law requirements.
11. When assigned, provide supervision and paperwork requirements of American Speech –
Language – Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellows, as requested by agency or
districts and assigned by the program administrator.
12. When assigned, oversee activities, supervision and paperwork requirements of Oregon
Board of Examiners certified Speech – Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
13. Maintain confidentially at all times.
14. Adjust /adapt services as determined by work environments such as regular classroom or
separate therapy room.
15. Participate in the Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed.

SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION
Licensed employees are represented by Linn Benton Lincoln Education Association.
Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based
on the current school year
Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate
with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and
