Willamette Education Service District is accepting applications for a full-time (40 hours per week) Dental Science Teaching Assistant position. Successful candidate will work as a member of the Willamette Career Academy, part of the School Improvement Services Department, and will follow a 187-day calendar. This position will be based at the Willamette Career Academy in Salem, OR and will begin as soon as possible upon conclusion of the selection process.
Salary and Benefits
- This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) Classified position represented by the Oregon School Employees Association.
- Placement on the Willamette ESD Classified Salary Schedule Range 14, Step 1-6; ($20.73-$26.49 per hour) will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training and experience.
- Willamette ESD supports payment for health, dental and vision insurance premiums for eligible employees. Employer-paid PERS, holidays, sick leave, and personal days are also provided to eligible employees.
JOB SUMMARY
The dental teaching assistant will assist in the training of students who are interested in learning about the dental industry. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Assistant will be responsible for encouraging and demonstrating to youth the various areas of the dental industry. This is an excellent opportunity to mentor new students into the field. This position will work in the state-of-the-art dental science lab within the Willamette Career Academy. The program will serve and provide equitable access to students and business partners from across Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. The Willamette Career Academy is
designed to emphasize innovation, informed by student and industry input. The Willamette Career Academy will prepare students for in-demand jobs and provide access to further education and training in career pathways. Students who complete the program may be able to certify to become dental assistants at completion, including RHS and EFDA certifications.
