Part-time Community Liaison

The Sisters School District is seeking a Permanent, part-time Community Liaison for Sisters School District. This is a 190-day work contract, prorated for the remainder of the 2024 – 2025 school year. Hours: 18 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
• Serves as a direct contact to the school district to interpret and provide information to parents about the local school’s procedures, instructional programs, and the names and roles of administrators and staff members,
• Assists with organizing and conducting parent involvement meetings at schools,
• Be visible in the schools and community providing information to parents and students about the resources available to them throughout the school system and community.
• Makes home visits to parents, as appropriate,
• Contacts parents to serve on school committees or to attend special events at the school,
• Develop and maintain trusting relationships between the District/schools and with students/families and community members.
• Serves as a contact person for parents to call with questions about the school services or specific activities and events,
• Communicates with parents on behalf of schools for the purpose of providing and/or conveying information and services required by principals or teachers,
• Assists other school personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective working/learning environment,
• Has knowledge of Special Education, ELL, and other technical educational terminology for the purpose of interpreting at conferences, parent groups, disciplinary hearings, IEP meetings, etc.,
• Maintains a log of meetings, conferences, etc.
• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy (ices) and procedures.
• Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
• Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
• Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
• Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records and inquiries.
• Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
• Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
• Attend work regularly.
• Administer ELL testing under the direction of the Principal.
• Attends in-service trainings.
• Attends staff meetings as directed.
• All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish (academic preferred),
• Relates well to people of all ethnic groups,
• Is trustworthy and maintains confidentiality,
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and is a self-starter,
• Holds a valid driver’s license,
• Familiarity with cultural communities,
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook, and Google Workspace.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and computer display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: $20.46 - $30.57 per hour based upon work experience and education. Excellent pro-rated benefits package and Employer-paid PERS.
