POSITION: MS Student Intervention Specialist or TOSA (depending on qualifications)
Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH. Work days and hours are flexible for this position, which means it is possible to personalize work times and days.

COMPENSATION: $42,756- $83,880
Placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education, experience, and work schedule. District policy GCBA will be implemented.

BENEFITS: Prorated employer-paid insurance CAP to assist with health, dental, and vision premiums, employer-paid Basic Life, and AD&D policies. Paid personal days, sick leave, and paid holidays, with a generous PERS retirement contribution.

Job Overview:
The Middle School Student Intervention Specialist or TOSA will work closely with students, families, and staff to ensure a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment. The specialist will develop and implement strategies to promote positive student development and a sense of belonging among students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping young adolescents navigate the challenges of middle school.

Responsibilities: The following is not a comprehensive list of duties.
Conduct developmental assessments to identify student’s strengths and areas for growth.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff members to promote a supportive environment.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Provide training and support to staff on child development principles, and effective strategies.
Stay current with research and best practices in child development and inclusion.
Address and manage challenging behaviors or crises effectively and compassionately.
Develop and implement programs to support students' mental health and well-being.
Assist students in setting academic and career goals, and create plans to achieve them.
Conduct assessments and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary.
Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of student information.
Contribute to a positive school climate and culture through initiatives and involvement in school activities.
Organize and facilitate workshops and presentations on relevant topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and stress management.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is recommended in Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.
Certification in child development or a related specialty is preferred.
Previous experience working with middle school students is preferred.
Strong understanding of adolescent development and the unique challenges faced by middle school students.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
