JOB GOAL: Under the broad guidance and administrative supervision of the Superintendent, the goal of the Director of Technology is to serve as the district’s leader of technology services and manage the day-to-day operations of the Technology Department in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, liability insurance requirements, and board policies; and oversee technology improvements and upgrades in alignment with current and future information and instructional technological advancements.

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the Director of Technology leads a team of technology support professionals focused on providing, supporting, and ensuring the high performance of all educational, desktop, infrastructure, and/or any other district technology while providing excellent customer service to all staff, students, families and stakeholders of the district. The Director performs a customer service role in ensuring that services are provided in a timely manner, are of high quality, and meet District needs and standards. The Director works cooperatively with other districts, ESDs, and state agencies and represents the district at local, regional and state meetings.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must have:

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, information systems, computer science, or other related field, and/or equivalent relevant experience.
A minimum of 3-7 years of progressive responsibility managing desktop, infrastructure, and educational technology preferably to include staff management in a K12 setting.
A demonstrated ability to motivate staff and provide a positive influence in delivering excellent customer service.
A working knowledge of student information systems preferably including recent experience with Synergy.
Expertise leading systems integrated across various platforms and operating systems, including but not limited to Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, PC and Mac platforms, servers, phones, tablets, network switches, cabling, audio/video solutions, and software implementations and installations.
A demonstrated ability to work independently to solve problems and to effectively schedule work in the face of changing priorities and emergency situations.
A demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, utilizing appropriate processes and delivering positive results.
A strong understanding of and experience with cybersecurity, multifactor authentication, and playing a leadership role in responding to cybersecurity threats, incidents, and widespread district breaches in order to preempt and/or resolve them as needed;
Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills to prepare and interpret complex reports, present complex materials in an easily understandable manner to individuals and groups.
Excellent reading comprehension skills to interpret and prepare complex reports and technical manuals and to create comprehensive instructional materials for technology product end users.
Strong customer service orientation and leadership skills.
An understanding of instructional models and methodologies to successfully facilitate the integration of technology into the classroom.
Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions of the position.
