Licensed Substitute - 3rd Grade English Classroom Teacher (PM part-time)

Position: 3rd Grade PM English Classroom Substitute Teacher
Schedule: 11:20 - 4:00 PM (M-Th), 10:45am-4:00pm(F) about 24 hrs a week
Start ASAP - 12/20/2024

Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree or above.
- A valid teaching license or substitute license is required
- An ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) endorsement is highly preferred.
- Previous experience teaching English to elementary-aged students preferred.
- Strong understanding of elementary English language arts curriculum and standards.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Proficiency in implementing and mastering effective classroom management techniques
- Proficiency in using educational technology and online teaching platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for working with young learners. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Enjoy working collaboratively with other teachers and school staff for curriculum development and various school events.

English Teacher Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and implement lesson plans: Create appropriate lesson plans for students based on curriculum standards and educational objectives, ensuring they align with the needs and characteristics of English language teaching.
- Teach English language and related subjects: Provide a strong English language environment and cultural background for students while teaching related subjects such as math, science and social studies.
- Provide student support: Offer necessary support and guidance for students to ensure their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Assess and record student progress: Evaluate student learning progress, record grades and performance, and provide personalized teaching feedback and suggestions.
- Communicate with parents: Maintain effective communication with parents and share student progress and needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers: Work with other teachers to develop curriculum materials, coordinate teaching strategies, and ensure consistency across different grade levels.
- Develop positive relationships and work cooperatively with students, parents, co-workers, Principal, School Board and the community.
- Attend team meetings and professional development: Attend team meetings and professional development opportunities to continuously improve professional skills and knowledge, share ideas and best practices, collaborate on curriculum and teaching strategies, and keep up-to-date with changes in the education field.
- Support school-wide cultural events and fundraising activities by actively participating and integrating them into the English language curriculum, fostering cross-curricular connections and enriching the overall educational experience for students.
- Conduct self in a professional manner adhering to the codes of conduct in the Employee Manual.

Working Conditions:
- Works primarily indoor, may on occasion work outdoors supervising students in variable weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- Often needs to stand/walk/navigate in the classroom for long periods of time.
- May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting, and to speak and hear in often loud environments.
- The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases.
- Need to transport classroom instructional materials, books, binders, paperwork. For heavier lifting, assistance is available.
