Molalla High School is currently seeking exceptional candidates for the position of CTE - Architecture and Construction Teacher.

Salary Range: $52,285 - $95,906

JOB GOAL: The Construction and Architecture teacher is responsible for the development and implementation of a high school CTE program of study. The teacher will provide students with work-based learning experiences aligned with industry standards and the Northwest College of Construction (NWCC) curriculum projects. Through project-based, hands-on learning projects, students will learn construction principles while working with a variety of materials and applying industry-standard methods. Students who complete the Construction pathway and meet the standards on projects will be eligible for an NWCC certificate. As the program grows, the teacher will be supported and encouraged to form partnerships to offer additional industry-recognized certifications. The teacher does this by implementing instructional strategies and programs that meet the needs of a diverse student population in a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must:

* Possess knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of adolescents.
* Possess the content knowledge and skills necessary to implement best instructional and assessment practices aligned with the Architecture and Construction CTE program of study and required assessments.
* Possess effective behavior management skills and routines to ensure a safe and supportive classroom for all students.
* Be computer-literate and capable of using technology and equipment to assist in instruction and construction.
* Be capable of learning new equipment, applications and processes to maintain programs, and continue to meet industry standards.
* Maintain satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide instruction, curriculum, and assessments adopted by the Board of Education and approved by the Clackamas ESD Consortium in alignment with Perkins and ODE requirements to meet all CTE guidelines for individual course content.
* Teach occupational knowledge and skills in one or more courses in building construction, and drafting/CAD to secondary students in preparation for industry-recognized certification.
* In preparation for instruction, address both short- and long-term learning goals. Show written evidence of preparation upon request from the immediate supervisor.
* Develop curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans and organize class time so that preparation, instruction, work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
* Design, select, and use planned sequences of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the development of occupational skills and knowledge.
* Coordinate the placement, supervision, and evaluation of student occupational experience programs as assigned.
* Demonstrate materials, equipment, tools, and processes, using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.
* Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and achievement of the instructional objectives.
* Use a grading system that is fair, equitable and consistent with schoolwide practices.
* Ensure that materials and equipment are properly used, maintained, stored, and that inventory records are accurate and current for both Perkins and district equipment.
* Prepare budgets, monitor receivables and payables, and maintain accurate budgets according to school and district financial practices and Perkins guidelines.
* Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
* Maintain professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement.
* Communicate to students and parents the level of student achievement and progress towards established classroom, and district standards.
* Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
* Work constructively with colleagues and others to improve the quality of students’ behavior and improve academic success.
* Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. As outlined in school and District policies, notify and involve parents/guardians regarding students’ behavior.
* Take all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
* Encourage parents to volunteer and provide them with constructive tasks to perform.
* Maintain a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Evaluation Handbook) and Board Policy and State Law.
* Participate in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) to receive and/or provide information, or share expertise.
* Form partnerships and relationships with local industry partners and then maintain an active construction trades advisory committee.
* Actively recruit and connect students for the Construction student leadership organization, for which the teacher will serve as an advisor.
* Identify and pursue industry competition opportunities with the support of the partner and student advisory committees.
* Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board or Administration.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
* Hold or have the ability to obtain a valid Oregon Secondary teaching license with the appropriate endorsements in CTE Architecture and Construction.
* Minimum of an associate degree per CTE licensure requirements.
* At least 3 years of construction industry experience.
* Licensed contractor preferred.
* Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card if required
* Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
