.50-1.0 SpEd Teacher/Case Manager *Signing Bonus*

Fern Ridge School District is seeking candidates for a .50 - 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher/Case Manager at Elmira High School.  FTE will be determined based on candidate preference and district needs. 

Fern Ridge is offering a signing bonus of up to $2,500 for newly hired licensed Special Education teachers - see below for details

Qualifications: The successful candidate(s) will hold or be able to obtain the appropriate license and endorsement(s) in the State of Oregon and demonstrate knowledge of best practices in teaching special education students.  The district is willing to work with candidates who are a good fit but need to work under a restricted license circumstance. 

Responsibilities:  Work towards creating a vibrant learning community for our highest need students.  Implement state standards and provide instruction that promotes all skill development, knowledge and reasoning. Use a variety of assessments to inform instruction and create an environment that maximizes student learning.  Manage and write all special education paperwork (IEP, evaluation, and related documentation). Model and teach respect with an awareness of diversity and perform other duties as assigned.

*Signing Bonus Details:

For the 2024-2025 school year, all Special Education Case Managers who are on-site certified members of the Certified Bargaining Unit, will be paid an extra duty signing bonus or retention bonus.  This bonus shall be as follows: 

 First-year licensed staff will receive a $2500 signing bonus (prorated based on FTE):
For first-year staff, the signing bonus will be payable in three installments on monthly paydays, including $1000 in October, $500 in January and $1000 in June; 
If an employee is hired after the beginning of the contract year, the District will prorate the bonus, based on the actual contract days worked;
If an employee takes extended leave, the signing bonus or retention bonus will be prorated based on the actual contract days worked.  Contract days include workdays, holidays, and days protected by FMLA/OFLA/Paid Leave Oregon.
In the event that a first year employee resigns and leaves the district prior to the end of the contract year, any signing bonus previously paid out during the contract year will be subtracted from the final paycheck.
In order to offer flexibility in hiring fairs, the District may also offer up to $2000 to help cover moving expenses for new Special Education employees who live more than 50 miles from the District, payable in the second paycheck for the employee.
