George Middle School is a PPS middle school on the rise. We have an incredibly diverse school community with a talented teaching staff and administration who are committed to the success of every student. We are a Spanish Immersion and AVID school with a growing arts program offering drama, band, orchestra, choir and visual arts and an emerging STEAM program.

About the Role
The Bilingual Educational Assistant provides designated supporting services to a classroom teacher or teaching staff responsible for students in classrooms, resource centers or other school and school related areas including tutoring ESL and bilingual students in the mainstream classroom.
You will also support instruction of ELL students in English and/or their native language under the supervision of a certified, licensed teacher. You’ll assist, promote, and support family involvement by facilitating communication between the families and school where needed. Provision of translation and interpretation as appropriate and attendance of meetings including parent conferences, evening school activities, home visits, and ESL/Bilingual department meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Associate Degree or Higher OR two (2) years of college completed (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits earned) OR a passing score from the Praxis ParaPro Assessment. **PPS offers a FREE Paraeducator Assessment for applicants who need it. Employment is contingent upon a passing ParaPro Assessment score.
- Experience working with ESL/Bilingual students and parents
- Bilingual fluency in the language and cultural competence.
- Demonstrate standards of good moral character and behavior as required of teachers (e.g. serving as a role model to students)
- Understanding how to work with children and families from a low-income background.
