JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Specialist position provides support to a variety of HR programs and services. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to learn complex software systems, conduct HR data analysis, provide information and assistance to employees, administrators, job applicants, and the general public, and be a positive, proactive, and contributing member of the District Office Team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
3. Proficiency in a variety of computer/technology skills and ability to learn new programs.
4. Foundation of understanding of regulations related to payroll and human resources.
PRFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree or vocational training certificate
2. Three years previous experience in a human resources related position.
3. Experience in education related workplace.
4. Spanish speaker.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains various HR systems, records, and procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate policies/laws.
2. Act as liaison between district staff and payroll contractor.
3. Prepares recruiting materials for job vacancies and maintains online system for applicants.
4. Provides new hires with applicable documents and ensures return of all required documents.
5. Assist staff with leave requests, and process applicable documents.
6. Conducts or assists with audits and mandatory reports.
7. Reports employee data for building use, or for departmental or administrative reports.
8. Process requests for verification of employment and unemployment benefits.
9. Attend meetings and/or training related to HR duties as needed and directed.
10. Awareness and understanding of general purposes and goals of public education and willingness to operate within district procedures, Board policy, and state and federal laws and regulations.
11. Establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, supervisors, vendors, agencies, and the public.
12. Researches, creates, inputs, formats, organizes and edits relevant data as needed or requested.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 258 day work agreement at 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week). Based on current Confidential Work Agreement, salary ($25.95 to $28.44 per hour) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance and Oregon state retirement.
