Science Teacher - Temporary - Oaklea Middle School

The person in this position works under the supervision and direction of the building administrator and is responsible for teaching students in the Science content area. This individual must work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students optimal learning opportunities, as well as a well-planned, organized instructional program in a safe and supportive learning environment. This position is temporary for the 2023-24 school year.

Qualifications Required

Current Oregon Teaching License with Science endorsement;
Demonstrated positive classroom management skills and student-centered instructional skills;
Knowledge and skills in instruction/learning methods and techniques;
Knowledge and application of skills in teaching NGSS aligned curriculum and using assessment data;
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons;
Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators;
Ability to perform computer skills and incorporate the use of technology in the classroom;
Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policies;
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card.

Qualifications Desired

Experience in or ability to teach in the following area: Middle School Science
Experience teaching with Google Classroom
Experience with experiential learning;
Experience in or ability to teach in a middle school;
Knowledge of student portfolios, work samples, and benchmark activities to monitor student learning growth and meet NGSS Standards;
Collaborative/team building skills;
Knowledge of Special Education;
Working knowledge of Basic Spanish.
