Job Description:
Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School is seeking a full-time school counselor to join our community this school year. The school counselor meets with students to help process feelings and solve problems. They check in to classrooms regularly to understand the dynamics within each smaller community and to support the students and teaching staff. They provide social/emotional lessons to students and classrooms. The Ridgeline counselor serves as a hub of information within the school, connecting staff, families, and outside agencies to work together for students’ success. They also assist administration in handling student behavior positively and fairly, in coordinating meetings with parents, act as the 504 coordinator, and in helping to communicate the mission, vision, and values of the school.

Vaccination Requirement:
Governor Kate Brown has directed that Oregon will implement a legal requirement that all public and private school teachers, staff and volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. "Fully vaccinated" is defined as 14 days after receiving all required doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (currently two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Required Qualifications:
Valid Oregon Teaching License with an endorsement in counseling or
The ability to obtain an Oregon Restricted School Counselor License which requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and one of the following
Enrollment in a school counselor program and completion of 50% of the program or
Three academic years as a full-time certified Child Development Specialist (CDS) or
A master’s degree in a counseling-related field.
Expertise to assist students in effectively reflecting on and developing alternate solutions to behavioral, educational, social, and emotional problems and concerns
Ability to work with and sincere appreciation for the diversity of parenting styles, cultures, beliefs, and family structures represented in our community
Understanding of child development and developmental stages
Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations
Ability to maintain liaisons with social service and youth service agencies in pursuing referral follow-up activities
Ability to establish, maintain, and monitor the maintenance of a variety of files and records pertaining to student counseling, guidance, and related matters

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of successful school counseling experience
Experience working with kindergarten through 8th-grade students

Hours: Full-time
Salary: $37,634-$56,348 (based on 1.0 FTE salary for the full school year)
