Position Summary: The Physical Education teacher promotes and develops successful learning, and healthful attitudes and behaviors for students in physical education for Kindergarten through eighth grades through a creative, innovative, Place-based approach. The teacher performs instructional and related duties as they pertain to the state standards in physical education. The PE teacher performs duties in accordance with ORS, SIS Policies, and the terms of the staff handbook. The PE teacher cooperates and collaborates with staff, families, and students. An SIS teacher understands and promotes the school’s Place-based mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The teacher is responsible for providing a Place-Based/Project Based and Integrated instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children. Teachers use Backwards Design models and collaboration to design and implement these programs. A commitment to professional growth/learning and collaboration amongst colleagues is highly important.
