2024 Comprehensive School Scheduling Workshop 2

Program:
This workshop is designed for administrators or counselors who are new to building secondary school schedules.  Whether you are working at a 4000 student high school or a 500 student middle school this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to build a schedule for the upcoming school year.  Topics include identifying school values and priorities, timelines for completing a schedule, staffing, equity, funding requirements, facility challenges, and student choice.  Valuable reference materials will be provided to support you along this endeavor.  You will be able to adapt the concepts and principles of scheduling regardless of the Student Information System your school uses. Come as a new administrator or bring a team from your school.

Suggested Audience:
All levels of expertise are welcome, however, this workshop is geared toward first and second-year schedulers: administrators, counselors, & support staff who work on school scheduling.

Outcomes:

  • Identification of essential “non-negotiable” components - focusing on your school’s priorities and centering the needs of special populations such as English Learners, students receiving special education services as well as other special programs like DLI courses, etc.
  • Realistic and necessary timelines.
  • A step-by-step, practical method for creating a schedule that provides course selection equity.
  • An opportunity to practice building a school schedule with real numbers.

Trainer: Ken Ezratty

Ken Ezratty has been a public school educator for the past 35 years.  Within that time he spent 12 years as a high school assistant principal, building secondary school schedules.  He has provided training on school scheduling to multiple school districts throughout California and Oregon.  He currently serves as a high school principal and trains other administrators in secondary school scheduling.

 

Registration:
The cost for this one-day workshop, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 (8:00-4:00) is $395 (light refreshments and lunch are provided)Space is limited to 40 attendees, so register early.
