Objective: To provide early career Oregon Superintendents with an opportunity to create a collaborative learning network with experienced superintendents and leaders in partner organizations across the state.  New Superintendent Academy sessions will focus on building key leadership skills, knowledge, and practical strategies to help improve their individual school districts. The New Superintendent Academy combines monthly virtual sessions with additional face-to-face opportunities in conjunction with some of COSA’s conferences (see dates below). A complimentary registration is provided to each Academy participant for the Oregon Law Conference (December 4-6, 2024).

Mentorship Support: Each Academy participant is paired with a skilled superintendent mentor. Every attempt is made to maximize the pairing of the new superintendent and the mentor. The facilitators of the Academy have decades of superintendent experience and are available for support throughout the year. In addition, every executive leader and expert that presents during the Academy sessions agrees to be called as needed by the new superintendent participants.

** In order to participate, you must be a COSA “Active” member. **

Cost: $1,295 - This price is for the year-long academy and includes registration to the Law Conference. Full scholarships are available for superintendents who are leaders of color, members of the LGBTQ community, or are bilingual.  Participants must have “active” status as a COSA member.

Extended Sessions Offered in Person:

  • October 16, 2024; 1-3:30pm (via Zoom)
  • February 10, 2025; Winter Conference (Salem Convention Center)
