2017 ASCD Pre-Service Teacher Conference

Don’t miss the Oregon ASCD Pre-Service Teacher Conference!

Pre-service teachers, college of education professors, supervisors, teachers and administrators are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Educators from across the state will present sessions on important topics such as:  

  • Survival skills for the first year of teaching
  • What principals are looking for in a new teacher candidate (elementary and secondary sessions)
  • How to make a good first impression and land an interview: preparing for the Job Fair
  • How to differentiate instruction for ALL learners
  • Generation X/Y/Z and baby boomers? How to communicate and relate across generations 

Featured Speakers during Opening Session:

  • James Mayik, middle school teacher, shares his amazing story from “lost boy” in the Sudan to teaching in Oregon
  • Karen Hoffman, professional practice consultant, OEA, shares strategies for bridging the generational communication gap
